This list of 30 resources, though not exhaustive, will be helpful for those who are new to New Covenant Theology (NCT) and its very similar counterpart, Progressive Covenantalism (PC). Not every author necessarily describes him or herself with the NCT or PC moniker, yet their theology would be considered “NCT/PC friendly.” For additional books and resources, a simple google search of the authors below will lead one to an ever-expanding plethora of excellent resources that detail such subjects as: What is New Covenant Theology?, Is the Sabbath a day or a Person?, How should Christians in the New Covenant view the law and ethics?, and How does New Covenant Theology differ from Dispensational and traditional Covenant Theology?

New Covenant Theology

Twenty five years ago I came into the Reformed camp and accepted Covenant theology. But as time went on, found myself questioning the covenant of works/life framework given to Adam & Eve’s relationship to God. While I don’t dispute the fact they would have gained by their obedience, what’s more important is that they would have lost more so by their disobedience. They would die! So then it actually goes deeper than that. They needed to believe God. There’s three thing God did not tell them: He didn’t promise eternal life(tho the possibility was there), He didn’t identify the Tree of Life to them( tho to us in the narrative He did), and of course, He didn’t tell them their eyes would be opened if they did eat( tho it was acknowledged later by God their eyes were opened). There were two ways they would be granted to recognize the TOL, either by believing and obeying, or unbelieving and disobeying. Of course, with the latter, they disqualified themselves from eating from the TOL. The covenant of works label is a misnomer. The bottom line is: they needed to believe God’s word. Period.
